The Suit of Cups – Quotes

I thought of creating some quotes for the cards, and here is the second set. Just got done with the suit of Cups today. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I liked quoting, writing and creating the graphics. The deck I have used is the very wonderful Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law.

The Minor Arcana

The minor Arcana cards of the tarot deck are further divided into four sub-groups, called suits: Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles. Each suit has 14 cards, which is comprised of members 1-10, plus a Page, Knight, Queen and King, similar to current playing cards.

1. Wands

This section of the tarot deck is associated with personal growth and spirituality. It deals with communications and energy (arguments, conversations, messages). Fire is the element of Wands. Meanings associated with Wands cards are reaping the benefits of one’s labor, taking action to achieve results, stability, arguments, success, victory, having advantage in a fight and traveling. The Wand suit could also mean excess baggage, spirituality, thoughtfulness, shyness, confidence, justice and authority. The Wands contribute much to the tarot deck.

2. Cups

This group of the tarot deck on the other hand, is more associated with emotions. The Cups are also associated with religion. The element associated with this suit is water. Meanings associated with Cups cards are new romances, new relationships, friends and lovers, good relationships, tension, dissatisfaction with the status quo, loss, past relationships affecting the current relationship and the search for something. Some of the cards also mean pride, showing off, tranquility, love, care and sensitivity.

3. Pentacles

The third suit of the tarot deck is associated with financial and material matters. It symbolizes fertility and wealth, often indicating success and children. Earth is the element that represents the Pentacles. Meanings of cards include new business ventures, losing money, hard work, being destitute, charity, contentment, security, happiness, intelligence and authority.

4. Swords

The last minor Arcana suit of the tarot deck is the Swords, which are associated with anything forceful or representing strife and struggle, either internally or externally. The element associated with Swords is air. Some of the meanings associated with this suit are the balance of ideas, the beginning of something new, loss, peacefulness, contemplation, childishness, a move, revelation of secrets, helplessness, failure, guilt, tragedy, vigor, authority and justice.

The minor Arcane cards of the tarot deck represent Earth, Water, Air and Fire. They also concern personal growth, spirituality, religion, emotions, financial and material matters, fertility and struggle.
